Portrait – Color Vector:

For this project, I chose to illustrate Emma Watson, a popular actress, model and activist. The background is a representation of the New York City Subway, where she hid books throughout the C and E line stations to promote and encourage reading. Watson promotes education for girls and advocates gender equality. She was appointed as a UN Women Goodwill ambassador in July of 2014.

I spent the largest amount of time creating Emma Watson’s portrait in detail, and then crafted the subway station and individual books (taken from her book club’s reading list) to surround her with one of her well known activities. I love the contrast of Emma in her formal attire against the informal surroundings as it portrays my perceived dichotomy of her as an actress and activist, but also an everyday person.
